Unusual Drives

If you are the sort of person who loves to slip behind the wheel and take off on a drive, then you may get bored of normal roads quite quickly. Why not try a drive on one of these bizarre and unusual roads in exotic destinations from around the world?

The Worlds Most Dangerous Road – The North Yungas road in Bolivia goes from La Paz through the mountains to Coroico, is forty miles long and claims the lives of between 200 and 300 travellers each year, mainly due to the sharp drops with no rails.

The world’s longest road tunnel – in Norway the 15.2 mile long tunnel was built, costing in excess of 1.25 million dollars, to protect the Norwegians from the harsh winter snowfall that caused havoc during their commutes.

The world’s steepest road – Baldwin Street in New Zealand makes the houses look like they are tilting, as it is so steep. In Dunedin, the locals challenge people to run the road, which only rises 230 feet in its 1150 foot distance.

The Worlds Iciest Road – the South Pole highway is a 900 mile stretch of road that links too stations, and is very very isolated.

The world’s sharpest cornered roads – the grimsel pass in the alps has some of the sharpest corners in the world.

The world’s longest continuous road – the pan American highway spans from north Alaska, through Canada, through North America and down through south America, finishing in Buenos Aires.
