The Hit and Run Car Park
Car parks on a busy day are hell. We circle the rows like sharks, and become cut throat as soon as we see that car reverse out of a space. We have to get there before the person heading towards us! It’s a car on car onslaught, and we need counselling when we finally turn off the engine and find the bags to embark on our shopping trip. The queues snake round the shop, and people bump trolleys into us left right and centre.
So, after such a stressful shopping experience, it would be horrible to get back to the car and find that someone has reversed into you and driven off. But a recent survey has said that one in ten drivers would flee the scene of a bump of the other car owner was not around. What happened to an honest society? The rising number of accidents in car parks is becoming a problem, as the driver seeks to claim on their insurance when it isn’t their fault. Car insurers also believe that the ten percent of claims due to this problem are not an accurate representation, as some people don’t claim for these knocks and bumps, as it would affect their no claims bonus on their Car Insurance when it wasn’t their fault. Unless customers have the details of the person who bumped them, they are unlikely to call and make a claim.
Recent research has suggested that drivers become more aggressive behind the wheel, and adopt a different personality.
