Car Spoiler – For Stylish Looks And A Stable Ride

When a car moves it experiences resistance from the atmospheric air. Some of the power generated by the engine is used in neutralizing this resistance and does not contribute to propel the car. When the car moves at high speed it also experiences an upward thrust which has to be countered so that the car can retain its firm grip on the road. A car spoiler helps in negating both the aforementioned adverse reactions. A car spoiler is a sort of rear wing which improves aerodynamics of a car. In simpler words it would mean that it improves airflow over the vehicle by streamlining it to some extent. You would have noticed rear wing like accessories in a racing car which are quite prominent. A car spoiler performs a similar function. It generates a negative lift, negative means instead of lifting up it pushes down, this makes the car hug the road better, specially at high speeds when it is needed the most.

Even though car spoilers are not as prominent as the rear wing of a racing car, they do not fail to attract the onlookers’ attention. Car designers therefore also use the spoiler to add a cosmetic touch to the car to adorn it. Car spoilers can be made of different materials like ABS plastic, or fiberglass, or resin, or even aluminum. They are available in a number of designs and various sizes from enormous ones to smaller ones. Because of such variety in material and design you are sure to find one which appeals to you. You can even have it painted if you do not like the original color. Car spoilers are available for SUVs and trucks as well.

Some sports cars have spoilers already installed but spoilers are mostly available as car aftermarket products. If you do not fancy the installed spoiler you can replace it by one you like. You will enjoy moving in a car with better aerodynamics and traction because of the spoiler. To onlookers it would look like a high performance car, which it would be in most of the cases. You know what’s the secret of many fastest cars? It is not always with the drivers or the car weight, and definitely not with the car manufacturer. Usually, it is with the engine. Not with the engine itself, but with that something with the engine. Have you heard of nitrous? I’m sure you know it is a compound. But did you know it is of great use for many car enthusiasts and racers? They are using it as one of the most important element to make their engines run faster.
Nitrous is an accelerant. It means that this combination of nitrogen and oxygen resulted to a substance that can accelerate the spread of fire. It is also regarded as something that can speed up the process. Now, the use of Nitrous Oxide is the most popular method of increasing horsepower of engines because of the instant boost in power and the low cost against engine modifications to gain the same result. It is the simplest way to provide a significant horsepower to boost any gasoline engine.
Nitrous systems can increase the power of your car by 0.5 hp (0.37kW) up to 3,000 hp (2,200kW). But this still depends on the engine type and the nitrous system type.
Once you heat nitrous oxide up to 570 degrees F (~300C), it splits into oxygen and nitrogen. The injection of nitrous oxide into the engine means there will be more oxygen available during combustion. From this split, there are more oxygen produced, time for you to inject more fuel, allowing the same engine to produce more power.
To get 200,000 miles or up using a nitrous-fed engine, there is a standard being followed. First, understand the right mixture of fuel. For a normal car, rich mixture on the one that has too much fuel and not enough air. This doesn’t do harm to the engine. What is harmful is when you’ve got a lean mixture. A lean mixture is made up of too much air and not enough fuel. It doesn’t burn well. Instead, it explodes and creates very high temperatures within the cylinders. It can melt pistons, valves, bend connecting rod and many more.
There is another thing that a nitrous can improve when it comes to performance. When it vaporized, it will provide a significant cooling effect on the intake air. If you reduce the intake air temperature, you’re also increasing the density of air which will provide more oxygen inside the cylinder.
One problem with nitrous oxide is that the engine will need a lot of it because of its bulky size. It takes up an amount of space even if it is already compressed into a liquid. A driver can only use it selectively by pushing the button. Because to be able to run a car continuously, it should save the amount of nitrous that it carries because it just might last for few minutes.

National Share the Road Highway Safety Program’s Stop Over in Americade

Yesterday, significant life-saving highway driving tips were offered by top professional truck drivers as part of the American Trucking Associations’ national Share the Road highway safety tour. The Auto Channel reported that the 2008 Americade motorcycle rally presented a wonderful set for the selected group of million mile accident-free drivers to offer their important points in road safety. Motorcycles are the only foremost motor vehicle class in which death rates have increased during the last ten years according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Share the Road stop of The Lake George, N.Y revealed to drivers how to share the road safely with large trucks with sturdy truck parts. As part of ATA’s National Safety Month outreach efforts, the program will carry on through Saturday afternoon, with particularly scheduled “ride-alongs” accessible by demand.

“Americade is a chance for us to talk to a large number of motorcycle enthusiasts about the techniques they should know in order to stay safe around tractor-trailers. Being from upstate New York myself, I feel like I am making a difference here with motorists I see on the highways. Hopefully attendees will leave the show with a better understanding of passing safely, maintaining a safe speed and keeping a minimum following distance, so everyone stays safe out on the highway,” says David May, a professional truck driver for Con-way Freight.

The program will feature professional truck drivers Wayne Crowder (FedEx Ground), Kent Durant (Roadway) and David May (Con-way Freight) at this weekend’s event. Aside from their broad knowledge about road safety and truck parts, these driving experts are members of a selected team of million-mile, accident-free truck drivers who bring the trucking business’ safety words, in all corners of the country.

“Share the Road allows me as a truck driver to give people life-saving advice. Most drivers were never taught what they can do to avoid an accident with a tractor-trailer. By being aware of the blind spots around trucks, all drivers can more easily avoid crashes. This information, and other safety advice, will help everyone to share the roads safely,” explained Crowder to all attendees and reporters at the event.

According to the news, today’s presentation of Share the Road safety measures are vital to motorists because:

  • Motorcycle fatalities have increased nearly 60 percent for the period of the last five years (NHTSA).

  • 35 percent of all truck-involved highway deaths take place in a truck’s blind spots (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration).

  • According to three different studies – including the AAA Traffic Safety Foundation and DOT, 3 out of 4 truck-involved fatalities are by mistake set off by car drivers.
